Silence

by Melissa   Apr 4, 2006

I wish for the hush tones
of a distant finger
to shush my restless lips
from speaking any words
that needn't be said at all.

Silence wraps itself
around my chattering tongue
like a warm blanket
on a cold winters day,
but I can feel the numbness
of my impatient ears
wanting to thaw out and play.
