If an American teen was scared

by Chelsey   Apr 11, 2006

There’s no place like home is what I was taught
Where fear shouldn’t exist and tears should be caught
Home is where you should feel safer then and other place
Home is where you shouldn’t be judged by orientation or race

But what happens when you home is threatened by a man?
One that a whole nation can’t even stand
A couple terrorist attacks are enough for any nation to take
Leaves you scared knowing you and your neighbors lives are at stake

When Roosevelt said “the only thing to fear is fear itself”
Is one of the greatest truths then anything else
Our next generation will be feared everyday
Because not one person can reassure us everything will be ok

What if your mother, husband or even your wife
Was afraid to open the oven door feared for their life
What if your baby son or your precious little daughter
Was scared to drink thinking there’s anthrax in the water

What if your grandchild feared to plug something in a power outlet?
Afraid something might spark and cause them something they won’t forget
When a home is threatened you better not shut your eyes
Unless these terrorists are just a bunch of lies

So what if an American teen was nervous in her home?
Nervous of the dark and to be home alone
Will anyone pray for the youth of this world?
Perhaps that we not grow up fearful boys and girls

What if that girl was me? What would you say?
Could you tell me “hush now it’ll be ok?”
What if I told you American teenagers were scared?
Now a day, would anyone even care?

Now is the time you offer your children those hugs
Because if teens are like me, they really need some love

I wrote this when we got another video from Osama Bin Laden and him stating that more terrorist attacks will happen but next time in our own home..I was a bit nervous and came across this
