God's Ways

by Hilary   Apr 12, 2006

The church bells started ringing,
As a mother bowed her head...
Trying to ignore the tears that fell,
With each word the preacher said.
He spoke of admiration
For the one that she held dear...
The baby that she kept inside,
Until the pain was too severe.
She dropped down to her shaking knees,
When the preacher said it was his time...
One year ago today, he said,
Was the day her baby died.
He raised his hands up to the clouds,
And asked God for His love...
For Him to surround her precious child,
While he soared in the skies above.
The pain, he said, may never cease,
As he asked the congregation for their prayers...
To remind them that their help is needed,
To keep that baby's mother in good care.
The tears that flowed down each one's cheeks,
Were enough to fill each river twice...
The Atlantic Ocean isn't big enough,
No - the Pacific would not suffice.
For even when their tears stopped flowing,
Their hearts would hold the pain...
Of the baby that was taken before his time,
Though his sweet love remains.
The church bells started ringing,
As a mother raised her gaze...
Mourning her sweet little one -
Trying to trust in God's Ways.
