Everything I Once Had, Nothing I Could Keep (Failures Confession

by Ixora   Apr 13, 2006

Tears can fall but they’ll always dry
And eyes will never be able to see
The pain it takes to try to change
Undo the s h i t I’ve done to me

To have you believe in what I can become
And look at me with something other than hate
Something better than disappointment
Unaltered by my inevitable fate

Make me independent in your heart
Because I am nothing like they are
I can change, I swear I can
If you wouldn’t push me so damn far

I’m weak though I may not show it
But fresh scars will show that’s true
He died and they gave up on me
Please don’t leave, I need you

“A letter’s worth a thousand words”
A thousand words I’ll never say
A thousand words I’ll hide behind false smiles
A thousand words to kill me everyday

These hearts are beating faster
As danger kisses near
A hand to hold that will let go
Disappointment, unabashed fear

These emotions are so hard to hide
This guilt is overwhelmingly sad
In the end I stare in hate
Remembering you were everything I once had
