A Second Chance

I can finally see that my life isn't all that hopeless,
Now finding myself steadily searching for happiness
Didn't think I'd get the chance to get reacquainted with my spirit,
I only felt that way because I had to do so long without it
I thought it was lost forever but it was just misplaced,
Now trying to leave behind all that has left me so disgraced
Finally starting to open my eyes to this thing called life
Provided a second chance to make things right,
Hope it'll be the last one needed to make it to the path,
But I'll never forget of all that was lost to get what was had
Appreciating and thanking God for every new breath,
No longer having to constantly be reminded only of death
I'm sure that tomorrow may bring something new,
But I know that this day has planned things to do
The light of my soul returned to shine from within,
I see no more darkness so now my life can begin.....
