Love is Sacrifice

by Bhavin   Apr 26, 2006

The highway was quiet, the road was rough
With no noise around and no chaotic stuff
The lovebirds seemed to be going from a drive
With the aroma of unselfish love still alive.

As time passed by, the distance kept on decreasing
The speed of his motorbike kept on increasing
\"Slown Down,\" she said, with her heart thumping
Over the bridges and flyovers, they kept on jumping.

he demanded from her, to say him \"I Love You\"
And then he would decrease the speed by a few
\"I Love You\" were the words that she promptly replied
She asked him to slow down but he ignored and denied.

\"Take off my helmet as it is bothering me,
wear it and tell me what do you see\"
\"I see nothing,\" she said with a frown
\"Now please slow down as we\'re reaching the town.\"

Before she could realise, their motorbike crashed
She escaped from death and got a few rash
But in front of her, he was lying motionless
It seemed that his body was lying lifeless.

He was taken to the hospital but was declared dead
On hearing the sad news, her eyes got red
The reports revealed that brakes had failed first
But he sacrificed his life, in order to save hers.

this one is surely a true story of theirs
Which can be heard only in Indian lairs
It teaches about love, its laughter and cries
And an important moral that Real Love Is Sacrifice !!!

Note: This poem has been inspired from an email recieved by me from a great friend of mine. The idea may not be original but the poem is original.

One request: If this work may not be termed as original then I don\'t think that Hamlet, Othello, The Inchcape Rock, The Pied Piper of Hamlin can be termed as original since even they have been inspired from great stories and converted into ballads.
