Sometimes...

by Serendipity08   May 2, 2006

Sometimes, if I close my eyes tight enough, I can see the gates
those shining but brilliantly bared gates
His gates
someday, my gates too
bright red tears warn me that if I keep my eyes shut
those gates will be close enough to touch
someday turns into Today? Tomorrow? The Next?

Sometimes, if I work hard enough,
I think I can fix reality into a manageable weapon;
one standing is a lonely battle
at that I reach the lock on the gates face

Sometimes if I dream far enough
walls turn to water, ideas catch rides on tears and song
clocks tick backward, cars float on air, rain falls up instead of down
silence's words become the first language of the earth
and if I tell myself never to stop dreaming, then sometimes,

Sometimes, I can almost read the inscription over heavens pearly gates
But then your voice rings in my ears calling me back
"Not yet!" I plead, the invisible message winking;just out of sight
not my time yet?
I turn back for the one I love

Now, I understand,
Someday, we will read the gates inscription together
