Life the candle flame

Life the candle flame
By Dan Medley

Life is a candle flame
You're born with a flame
Thats high and bright
Full of youth and delight
Not a care in the world
Rests on your shoulders
The flame straight and bright

Time passes quickly
The years go by fast
Your flame less luminous as the day goes by
Less grand and hot
As the years fly by
You are 20 now
Still young and youthful
But growing older as time passes by

Time moves rapidly now
Decades fly in moments it seems
Your flame is much lower now
Half of what is once was
Its brightness diminishing
Its size reducing
You are 50 now
Time is starting to affect you
Health dropping
Gray hair growing
You have no youth now
Constantly sick you are
Prone to every illness
Every disease and germ

The years are roaring by now
Faster and faster
50, 60, 70, 80
Your flame is barely burning now
Very faint it is
You are near the end
You feel death coming
Bodily breakdowns
Illness common
You're dying

Another year passes
And another
Every year the flame gets lower
Dimmer and dimmer it gets
You're barely able to think
To move
To speak
Your time on this earth is short
The end is near

One day the end comes
Poof
Your flame vanishes
You depart this life
You parish
Youre gone
Just like that
Poof
At 93
