Inner strength

by Katie   May 9, 2006

Deep inside that black hole,
A tiny tear rolls down
My face, to add the finishing touch
To my frown.

Sitting on a ledge,
Neither up, down, or in between,
Lost in the depths of despair,
Wishing I could wake from this dream.

Down below the devils dance,
Their song of betrayal and hate,
Wondering if I should jump
And seal my own fate.

Up above the real world beckons,
Where angels and fairies roam,
Wishing I could lift my wings
And fly back home.

Yet, it is you that keeps me here,
In my own secret hell,
And you, alone have the power
To lift from where I fell.

It is your voice I hear,
And your eyes that I see.
It is your touch that I feel,
The only part of me that feels free.

I must sit here and deal
With my hurt, my anger and pain,
Hoping with every breath I have,
That one day, I will live again.

That ray of light is there,
Waiting for me to be ready,
And one day, I will get up
And live for me, strong and steady.

This is my pain. You hear my story, and you read my words, and you know me. This is my pain. You are my thoughts. You are my very essence, written within these stanzas. You became my strength. Thank you. xx
