I pledge allegiance

by Bianca   May 13, 2006

I pledge allegiance
As I stare at a flag-
Persecuted and spit on
And wiped with blood
And tears-
Turned into stripes and stars

To the flag of the United States of America
Divided we stand
Unity we claim-
A flag that bears the souls of the Dr. Kings
Held by murderers
Contradictions hold its meaning

And to the republic
Society all the same
Hatred written and stamped on the blank spaces
Painted over with a white so intimidating no one looks any deeper
Historic lies, the white covers up,
Harriet Tubmans journey hidden in the eyes of the eagle

Which it stands
Balance giving out to the knees
Of misinformed citizens
Sojourners Truth is also the truth of you and me
Mental captivity
Crutches hold this land

One nation
If by one they mean
A dozen or a couple hundred
Each race for their own
The white man and the black man and the Asian man
And the Hispanic to fend for their "kind"

Under God
To assume there is such a high being
Judgment day will result hell
A price so high we all will pay
For the souls we stole in these inhuman wars
To God we will answer

Indivisible
Dictionaries couldn't have exist at this time
At no point in time, neither now or then, and the days that passed in between
Has American been united
To claim a bond forever
Can only be titled humor

With liberty
Liberty means freedom
And to America freedom means nothing
Idealistic-
To hope of a world
They speak of

And justice for all
Or at least some
Justified injustice
How I would describe our country
Religious rebels- who hate Americans
But claim to love America

I am absolutely speechless... There is nothing I can say to you that would show you the magnitude of what this poem said to me. Every line, every word, every syllable spoke out. The way you put the words so cleverly together. Something that could easily be said to an audience as a speech became a piece of artwork. Completely original. Something i have never seen on this world wide web before and God only knows I look for originality. You spoke so powerfully and I could not help but be engulfed into the words. No words will suffice to tell you how wonderfully this poem was written.

    a million/5 if i could.
