Frederick the Great

Born a crown Prince of Prussia,
before Germany even existed.
My father I hated with a passion,
so in the army I enlisted.

My father died and I became King,
Everything he did I had to change.
Our empire was small and empty,
and the laws he had were strange.

Our army was small yet bulky,
we only had a few true pioneers.
Artillery was slow and ineffective,
we lacked the number of engineers.

I reformed our army to it's best,
there was no country we did fear.
We had the best army in Europe,
Attacking us, no one would dare.

Slowly our empire would grow,
I gave my people more land.
An enlightened despot I became,
it was something rather grand.

Prussia gained military glory,
the finest Europe had ever seen.
It was large, fast and powerful,
So amazing, she was my Queen.

All other countries respected us,
a future Germany I did create.
I can be found in history books,
for I am, Frederick the Great.
