Contemplation While Doing Dishes

by Twisted Heart   May 22, 2006

Some people ask me what I think
when standing at the kitchen sink.
Do I think of dreams and wishes
while I'm doing supper dishes?

Sometimes I think of pretty things
like butterflies and angel wings
of lady bugs and fireflies
or sunsets and starlit skies.

Sometimes other things I see
like school clothes my children need
or supplies I have to get
in my mind I make a list.

There are times, I recall
when I just don't think at all.
I wash the glasses crystal clear
the plates, the bowls, the silverware.

The cups, the saucers, pots and pans
I do them all, then dry my hands.
The only thought I now have
is "doing dishes, what a drag".

I have to admit this is very interesting and I really liked it. And yeah dishes are a drag, its also cool that you were able to make a poem out of a daily chore. So cool. 5/5
