Silver Dagger

by Kim   May 22, 2006

Silver Dagger

Tempted by the promises
Of sweetness yet to find
Dreaming of the desires
Of all that could be mine

But the price that was demanded
Is not one I want to pay
It would mean the death of hope
And my values to betray

So I run from these attackers
Of my body and my soul
I will not cave to their seduction
I'll keep my spirit whole

And pounding with exhaustion
I stop to catch my breath
A silver dagger gleams in the air
But I am no Macbeth

Beautiful rhymes Kim, I really enjoyed this poem, like all of your work. I loved the ending, hmm, I've been reading a lot of poems with Shakespeare titles in it. Great stuff, he was one of my favourites!

Beautiful write. The flow was superb, the rhymes were perfect. Your words were strong, and beautifully crafted.
