What's love?

by Melissa   May 23, 2006

What's love, but boyish hands
throwing my trust back
like a hate filled grenade,
when this old faith of mine
won't react like a boomerang...

I got this notion
that I should start walking
said feet, better stroll out of here,
but my gut says, hey sweetheart
maybe he'll stick around...

Cause what's love,
but a dream you can't catch,
a riddle flown over head,
a Shakespearean play
you don't get,
a casualty, like Romeo and Juliet...

This is an amazing poem. I really liked the similies you used. It was really graphic imagery, but it suited the poem well. I liked the ending, it was perfect. Powerful and sad, great work!
