I am From

by Samantha lynn   May 23, 2006

I am from the late night dreams
Under Orion's teachings
And Apollo's lectures.
I am from long days
Running through trees
And sweet potato grilled.
Rocking to the rhythm
Of knitting needles and twirling in spring's showers.
I am from tears,
And smiles,
Hopes and failure,
I am from the moon and the stars,
From snowfalls and daisies.
I am from beach trips at midnight
And the LIE, heading off at exit 64.
Spontaneous moments,
Getting hearts branded on skin
To keep the memories
And for eternity.
I am from music and Pointe shoes
Arachnophobia and stitches at one.
I am from dark secrets
And failed relationships,
Hiding scars left open on the inside
And out.
I am from mile runs,
Blistered fingers,
Running over the smooth metal strings
For too many hours,
Blistered toes,
Cramped and worked to the point of bleeding.
I am from forgotten love
And stolen kisses in the rearview mirror.
I am from faith,
From love,
From hate,
From virtue,
From vengeance,
From serenity,
From rebellion.
I am from the world I create in me.
