No Longer

by Bill Turner   May 28, 2006

Each morning as I rise from bed
I stumble down life's path
No longer overcome with dread
Not fearing the lords wrath

At each fork I take the high road
Following the passion in my heart
Having walked in the dark princess abode
Each day bringing me a new start

Never again will I barter my soul
Choosing the path of honor and grace
Moving always towards my goal
With a smile upon my face

We all must choose every day
A thousand temptations to the dark
Our souls always at risk, in play
Evil looking for a glint, a spark

I will hold my chin high
Giving of myself when I can
Let my spirit forever fly
For I am no longer a dark man

I like your style of rhyming, with the 1 and 3 line and the 2 and 4 line. This is the first poem on this website that contains a rich vocabulary. It's very refreshing!
