Unbreakable Silence

by Chelsey   Jun 1, 2006

When age hits your body and you can’t do what you used to
Sometimes you just throw in the towel and say I quit I’m through

This 83 year old woman lost her soul mate last year
Every night when she sleeps she’s afraid her death may be near

No TV on in the morning, no radio on at night
No candles or lamps, just the sun and moonlight

No visitors at all, no animals for company
She just rocks in her chair, waiting for her destiny

She rocks in the silence, sometimes she crochets
No neighbors ever come to see if she’s ok

The quiet talks to her, it sings softly in her ears
She hears the voice of her husband, which brings her to tears

Night after night, for the silence she’s prepared
The thought of ghosts and souls does not make her scared

Silence is her favorite song, it’s her favorite show
Like a baby from a womb, she watches silence grow

Quietness stares at her like an owl from a tree
Like a flower getting water, her silence even breaths

When a mouse creeps on the floor, even silence out sounds
You can search ever corner, noise will not be found

Noise can not be made, even if you try
And people hope when she passes, the silence will also die
