Crystal Dragon

by Twisted Heart   Jun 4, 2006

Lovely dragon made of glass
Upon my shelf is where he sat
With ruby eyes he watched me grow
Into a woman with hair of gold.

I remember when we first met
A birthday that I won't forget
My mother's gift she gave to me
When I was but a child of three.

He followed me into my dreams
And on his back he carried me
Many ventures we both shared
With castles, knights, and maidens fair.

And when I traveled through my teens
Like a friend he followed me
He was strong through broken hearts
And held me when life fell apart.

Now here I sit, I'm fully grown
I have a daughter of my own
And perched upon her pretty shelf
Sits a friend who can help.

So be the one who sits and listens
To all her hopes and all her wishes
Give her ventures as fairies sing
And carry her on crystal wings.

Lovely dragon with ruby eyes
Watch my child through her life
Watch her grow and give her strength
And follow her, when she dares to dream.
