Chivalry Reborn

by Sean Allen   Jun 8, 2006

I've always seen the spirit of chivalry
as the silent, aborted child
of a highly imaginative society
as an excuse for some to go wild
on a crazy binge bent on false justice
and a goal we could kill for;
well nowadays my head's feeling empty
and my essence is yearning for more.

I'm not a knight in shining armor,
and I never said I would try;
sick and tired of empty pledges
and I think that I'd rather die.
Instead, you're my equal counterpart,
all things that you couldn't be
under that dated, antiquated system
that we used to call chivalry.

To me you're more than just a damsel:
you're the wind, a woman, a soul;
you're everything and all that consumes me,
all that keeps me whole.
So when you call me Prince Charming,
I hope that you'll take it back,
because he can't please you like I know that I do:
I'm everything he'll always lack.
