Reflections

by Twisted Heart   Jun 9, 2006

Mirror, Sacred Mirror
Why have thou forsaken me
Into your depths I stare
The liquid pool of age
Has captured my face
And left me in tenure there.

A reflected soul
Captured within your draft
I see you emulate
The childhood innocence
Skin of porcelain
Mere time should not abate.

But it has, dear mirror
No longer do I see
The young maid of long ago
In her youthful place
Is a weathered face
Of someone I don't know.

A woman who's eyes
Show wisdom and concern
Experience has taught her well
And the heart's own laughter
Has gone thereafter
And replaced her with this shell.

Very well written, Mom! I love it from start to end.
I like how you reminisce throughout of youth and childhood memories, it adds a sense of nostalgia to the piece.
