Homeless

by Katrina Boblina   Jun 11, 2006

Cold and dark
this silent night surrounds me.
Even the crickets seemed
to have stopped their abrasive songs.
The stars blanket themselves
in the moonless black sky.
No one makes a sounds
not the coyotes, the frogs, or I.
Eyes tightly sealed
my arms held close
I'm alone on this dark wasteland
you humans call earth.
The rain begins to pour
and cursing under my breath,
I wish for a home
and yet also for death.
People pass by
no one offers a hand
they all stare down at me.
A worm in the mud
a dog in the rain
a homeless old fool
with a heart full of pain.
