Hope

An eery feeling
crawls right up my spine
I see shadows
and I can't be sure they're mine

Dark is everywhere
I am lost and all alone
but I am hopeful
as I see what I've always known

A light ahead
brighter than the sun
I move closer
the journey back has begun

I am stronger
as I travel toward the good
remembering things
that I thought I never would

Basking in the warmth
I am suddenly ashamed
as I think of the others
for my sins I've blamed

Begging forgiveness
I am on my knees
I'm at peace now
sure He has heard my pleas

I can continue
as I walk down the way
to do good
and to not go astray
