At Peace In The Arms Of The Angels

by Lu   Jun 14, 2006

I came across a picture of Christine and her parents on a memorial site and this little girl
that would now be the same age as my son brought me to tears .She is so happy
in this picture with rosy little cheeks and a smile that would light up a room . Christine was
the youngest victim of the 9-11 attacks at the age of 2 years old .
9-11 was the topic for a poem challenge within the group CC&P and it has taken me almost
3 weeks to complete this poem . Please visit this page to see Christine and her parents .

****************************

A little precious two year old baby girl
that captured my heart from only a picture
with rosy cheeks and a cherub smile
a child\'s life that ended way to soon

Pretty little brown haired Christine Lee Hanson
boarded the United Airlines Flight 175
excited to visit relatives and Disneyland
with her mommy and daddy by her side

These parents dreams of their daughter\'s future
quickly shattered by the cruel heartless minds
of these vicious hijacking cowards as the
Boeing 767 crashed into the World Trade Center

At a speed of 590mph the impact is deathly
millions of people as do myself view the impact
knowing without a doubt there will be no survivors
no words escape my lips, I am frozen with shock

Many years later .....

My son, the same age Christine would now be
touching his hair and kissing his cheek
as burning tears still fall from my eyes
all I can do is ask myself \"why\"

Yet I can not even begin to understand
how these terrorists could be so heartless
to see the terrorized faces of the passengers
seeing the tears fall from the faces of children

Innocent children, fathers and mothers
grandparents, sisters and brothers
that were never given one last chance
to say \"Good-bye\" or \"I love you\"

I feel in my heart that Christine along with
the many others that died that day are with God
watching over their friends and family
at peace\" in the arms of the angels\"

Wonderful, touching, heart tugging poem. Your words are deeply felt. Such a tragic event. The tragedy hits home when such an innocent life is taken like this. Beautiful memorial poem.

    Oh my...this gave me chills.
Luanne, you have an amazing gift and I admire how openly you share that gift. The poem you've written just based on a picture mirrors my sentiment after going to the link you provided.
I can't imagine what kind of person could look at all those people and not care....it infuriates me.
Well done, my dear. Love ya~Holly
