Edisto Romance (part 2)

by glass*wall*prison   Jun 17, 2006

I awoke to the sound of
Waves crashing on the shore.
I laid there on the balcony
listening to the oceans roar.

I walked down to the beach,
And sat down in the sand.
Watched a helpless sand castle
make its final stand.

I sat there for hours
watched the tide come and go
I seen the many faces
That made up Edisto.

I began to question my motives
Asked myself why i made the trip.
What was i expecting to find?
The final call for my sinking ship?

I stared out into the ocean
For the answers i wouldn't find.
Then strangers sat down beside me,
but i didn't pay them any mind.

I didn't bother to look at them,
Or acknowledge they were there.
I just there and kept to myself.
I guess i didn't really care.

I heard one of them ask,
"Why are sitting here alone?"
I chose not to respond,
I just stood up and walked home.

Not making eye contact with anyone
Nor once sparring a passing glance
I wanted nothing to do with them,
but i guess i should've gave them a chance.

I didn't think much of it.
I just laid down and went to sleep.
Dreaming of my sinking ship
that sank into the deep.
