Soul Poet

by Michael D Nalley   Jun 22, 2006

If I had a mind to write a poem, but only half the heart
My silent soul would drive me forward to this most worthy art
Words would come so freely that I would call them my own
With the Spirit to guide my thoughts, I would not be alone

Humbly I would share each word that would come through me
I could write about the things I felt, the things I could not see
Images would fill the pages until it was a beautiful book
Angels would come down from heaven just to take a look

I'd need only one love to make the desires of my heart whole
With each breath I take I would journey toward my goal
I'd walk the steps leading to the truth, while I'd reach for the sky
If I could only write the perfect poem, I'd be forever high

The ending was a bit of a let down, the last line, but the rest was brilliantly written.

Oh... this one is also nicely written! I like the way you put in words the feeling of someone who has a desire to write... I love it!
