In Paradise

by Hilary   Jun 23, 2006

Do you hold him in your arms, dear friend?
The one whom I called son...
The one that left too soon, some say,
Before his life begun.
Do you throw a ball across the clouds?
And let him dive into the sky...
Do you let him play on Eden's jungle gym?
Stars shining in his eyes.
Does he sleep next to you, dear friend?
When he's tired from his day...
Do you listen to my prayers together?
When it's time to slip away.
Do you gaze down upon me?
From the gorgeous promised land...
Jumping through the cloud's pillows,
Holding my child's hand.
The pain still overwhelms me,
When I am brought into the night...
Searching for the ones I love,
No longer in my sight.
I speak my prayers below the stars,
Hoping they'll reach the skies above...
'Dear Father, hold them gently,
Remind them that they're loved.'
I know that we're apart now,
I cannot hold you in my arms...
I can't kiss my son goodnight, sweet dreams,
I can't keep him from Earth's harms.
In Heaven he resides now,
With my treasures in the sky...
He's safe in God's Home now,
No chances that he'll cry.
I know he's looking down on me,
While he plays with the friend that I held dear...
They're telling me it will be okay,
And wiping away my tear.
Your spirits stay beside me,
But for only so long will they suffice...
Waiting until the day I fly,
With my Lord in Paradise.
