Soulwound

by Ed or Ian Henderson   Jul 11, 2006

When you come to the pinnacle of attraction, it's found
That attraction is steel, the passion: soulwound.
The gaze of the lover can enchant your heart,
Your mind, your day, your poetry, your art.

But romance is fleeting; although passion worked hard,
Whether simple picked flowers, cherished words on a card,
Can leave all lovers on passion's island, marooned.
Instead of home nursing a bitter soulwound.

First rhyming poem I've actually enjoyed in a while. You've crafted this beautifully, I absolutely love the way you change the word "soulwound" based on the rhyme, that was immaculate. I feel kind of bad giving straight praise without suggestions... but I hope pointing out what's so amazing will help you out too.

I think you've missed the point: there are two different pronunciations of "wound" and both are specified here with their rhyme!
