A Daughter's Wish (Triolet)

by LadyPearl   Jul 26, 2006

Whisper wishes on a butterfly wing
Let thy mother remain with me
Just for me, don't let heaven sing
Whisper wishes on a butterfly wing
Spread our bond in light's piety
Never Let go to memory's glee
Whisper wishes on a butterfly wing
Let thy mother remain with me

A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines
repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital
letters representing the repeated lines.

Argh!.. sorry it cut the rest of my comment off!.. haha.

I thought it was a great poem and I never really try formed poetry. This seems like fun to try. Good stuff :)

"Whisper wishes on a butterfly wing"
[Hmm, I thought it made more sense if you wrote 'butterfly's' wing. It gives it a sort of possession]

Again, very nice triolet. I'm really happy to see that you're trying out so many different styles, and nailing them. This poem was beautiful & heartfelt. A enjoyable read. Keep it up! 5/5
