Recollection

The happiest moments of my life have been the few which I have passed at home in the bosom of my family.~Thomas Jefferson
---------------------------------------

Dreams spread like wings of gold
Upon the seats of my family's throne
Where a long heritage starts to unfold
A past of everyone we have known

But good times never last for long
Till storms of sadness float back in
Every moment must move along
Even within the tightest-knit kin

Father works all day and through the night
Mother works till late throughout the week
Father disappears at the morning light
By than the house is nothing but bleak

Dinner is whenever and wherever alone
Those classic moments together fade away
Destroying happiness which we once own
Each given a time to go our own way

Those old Monday nights filled with games
Blessed by laughter and joy all around
Now those memories go up in flames
Then broken wing drift in without sound

Recollecting the past of vivid imagination
Remembering the scent of pure ecstasy
Wiping away sad tears of lost affection
It's that hollowness who yearns memories

Another excellent poem! The feelings were so vivid, and the flow was very good as well as the structure of the poem!!

It's hard to raise a family properly now a days. Life is just getting harder and harder because people are demanding more and people are wanting more. We do this to ourselves. I know what you mean about parents are always out working. It sucks. A really nice poem Noni.
