Corruption

by Jemma   Jul 30, 2006

It is becoming a greater burden
A steeper struggle battling over dominance
For purity, for possession

Too many contradictions
A fortress of forked tongues
A war of flame and fire
Light and sound
Unbearable heat, burning, but many die from the cold

Lies are the foundations that they have built
We must stand in unity to defend each assault
But reckless hate is all consuming
As is the power of absolute deception

We stand strong against your obsession
A relentless pursuit off total possession
To eradicate those of good mind and conscience
To erase the memories of these evil times
With a forced future that we will not live to behold

Do away with your poison
Fight a good fight
It can be done without deceit
Fight with truth, with loyalty
With love

But to draw upon the sword
Would mean not using the hidden dagger
The knife concealed in your silken suits
Shod in darkness, but forged in light
What has become of you?
Men of powerless helplessness caused not by your despair
But your confidence in your arrogance and faith in nothing
The darkness is eating you
But you are too bad even for the night
It will spit you up
Stabbed in the back by your own allies
None are following the same agenda
You shall be betrayed
And then perhaps you will care

Will it be worth it?
Will a nameless evil finally worm its way into your heart?
The one no one will talk about
A fear everyone feels
But to admit to it
Would you be so brave
As to stand and speak without your riddles?

Could it be that you would resign yourself to playing fair?
To treat others as you would wish to be treated
Fobbing people off and vicious sparring with your tongues
Is that the way to tame your nation?
We are a wild breed
And we will take much persuading
Are you so naive as to underestimate us?
For leaders will come and go
But we have never nor will ever trust you
We place our faith in ourselves, in true comrades
Friends who would die for us
Protect us
Live for us

You would turn tail and run from such loyalty
For such love, such trust
Is it already beyond you?
While you delve deeper into your pockets for the scrapings of our fortunes
Depleted by your greed, by your extortion
Have you not taken enough from us, from those you say defy you?
Who you say have crimes unthinkable
Who you say do not know better
Who you set to punish
With mindless torture, open war
No food, shelter, wild untamed fire
Are you better than animals?
And hide in the shadows when the blame is addressed
It was never your fault
It was always someone else's idea
Pass the bucket along, just a game to you
And you're never available for comment
You are fools

I ask you to think about what you do
The cause of much anger and sorrow
Think because then we can truly give up
Knowing there is no longer any hope
If our leader, our ruler is taken
Ensnared by the velvet dark
And casting the world in deep shadow
Because you do not understand
But you have been told
And no one will forgive you

Even now it may not yet be too late
The times are hard
But we have taken worse
You have given us worse
But you did not learn
You still make the same mistakes
This lesson is one that for us to survive you must learn
You must know
You must have absolute confidence, not in your abilities, not in your power, not in your lies, your allies, and your public appearance
Have trust in your heart
And you will have trust given back
And we shall return to those who lead us
And we will return stronger
And you shall be stronger
If you do not cheapen your words
And betray yourself each and everyday
Do not throw away the world
It is already shrinking
And people need you to be true to them

Do away with your poison
Fight a good fight
It can be done without deceit
Fight with truth, with loyalty
And you will not suffer defeat

**I hope i put this in the right place. it seemed to fit here best**
