Bride with a dead bouquet

by Lady Vengeance   Jul 31, 2006

Pale complexion, blood-caked chest
She bore a broken smile
A girl in tattered, dirty white
Took her first steps down the aisle.

Heavy raindrops soaked the bone
Exposed, a bleeding heart
The chapel bells ring empty tunes
She knew they'd never part.

Undying love consumes her
Like the poison deep within
That told her he would not be there
To save her from the sin.

Knowing that the one she loved
Pulled the trigger on that day
And put the bullet through her heart
In more than just one way.

A ghost of all that could have been
A shadow left behind
Trying to live out the dream
Envisioned in her mind.

Forgive the pain he put her through
She loves him anyway
So she'll meet him at the alter,
Bride with a dead bouquet.

Very nicely written... A strong story, and very interesting at that. I don't know, I just love it. Great job.

Very original poem with a bit of darkness to it. My favorite was the fourth stanza.

Wow a very original poem... I haven't read anything like that it's kinda spooky as well of sad in a way....

The chapel bells ring empty tunes

I think that line ^ should be "...rang empty tunes"
