Glimpse of the past

by mimzy   Aug 8, 2006

Hand in hand, I walked as a child
Feeling naught but emptiness in his touch
Desperately looking for perhaps a smile?
A sign of affection, I longed for so much

My desire forever left unfulfilled
As my innocence was slowly killed
Bitterness slowly conquered my soul
Leaving me incomplete and out of control

Attempts to hurt you, left my heart throbbing
Feeling guilty, I took all the blame
Wasted nights I spent sobbing
For hurting the person who caused me this pain

I cherish the moments, though they passed too fast
I cherish the time that couldn't have last
I cherish the years, when I never knew
You not offering a smile wasn't the worst you would do
