Resting on her Neck

by Krissey   Aug 15, 2006

Her family never had a lot
But they managed to get by
She had always wanted some jewelry
But the prices were just too high

I guess you can call it her lucky day
When her eyes were so quickly to meet
A shiny object no one claimed
Lying along the curb by the street

She bent down to a metallic silver chain
Leading to a diamond studded cross
She grasped it quickly within her hand
Finders, keepers... it wasn't her loss

She thought perhaps it was a “T”
Standing for someone’s name
She just thought it shined so bright
And now it was hers to claim

This valuable artifact intrigued her
She wondered what it meant
She had seen the sign in pictures
But what did it represent?

She asked the people walking by
But no one had time for her
Until a man carrying a bible
Could actually give an honest answer

They talked until the sun went down
Passages out of the Bible he read
Some guy named Jesus died for her
She learned exactly how he died and bled

That day she was saved in the park
Ever since then she has wore the cross
Now her being the Christian she is
Her mission is to save the lost
