Selfish

Feel the rapid beating of her heart, see how the speed slows down every five minutes.

You sat that there and held her hand not understanding why this was happening to YOU.

But you never realized the truth, she had children when she knew the risk, because YOU wanted a family.

She worked when the doctor said she should stay off her feet, because YOU thought she should bring home the bacon.

She stayed home and cleaned, when she should have been at the doctors, because YOU wanted a housewife.

She laid in pain and agony, because YOU did not believe in medication.

She was left alone in an isolated room, because YOU thought that is what she needed.

She sent her children away, because YOU felt she didn't need them around.

She lied there on the floor helpless, because YOU did not want to ruin your good suit.

Everyday she grew weak and pale, and YOU thought she was fine.

She got sick everyday and night, and YOU thought she was pregnant.

You heard her cry out in pain, at night, and did nothing, because YOU thought it was just physical.

Now she lies here in this hospital bed, her life slowly slipping away, because YOU decided to flip the Switch.
