Weeping Willow

by Tiny Reader   Aug 28, 2006

The weeping willow so swiftly sweeps
Along the path so often littered.
And the gorilla statue boasts many a picture
Of children on frivolous days.

The weeping willow sings songs of tears
From bruised knees and tatty shoes
As parents scold their children
For falling from the vines.

Rumours around the town now,
Suggest you to avert your path
As the weeping willow still sways there
But children no longer play.

The scene is still so beautiful
And perfection lies in the leaves,
But the park is now left empty
And the weeping willow weeps.

At first I thought the poem was really well written, until I fell into the middle when the poem mentioned the word, "You." To me it lost it's imaginative tone and fell into a narrative. Your final stanza is what brought the poem back up again.
