The Price of Unreturned Love

by Tom K   Aug 31, 2006

There is a pain so hard to describe
With an ache that runs so deep inside.
A tearing kind of agony that rends your soul
Knocking down the weakest as well as the bold.

It is a loneliness that has no name
A desolate feeling of sadness and shame.
It fills you with a deep sense of despair
Robbing you of your ability to care.

You try to forget the cause of your pain
Fighting thoughts of her but always in vane.
It's a losing battle your heart constantly fights
As thoughts of her lingers all through the nights.

Her beautiful face haunts all your dreams
Only to wake up to reality it seems.
To face another lonely painful day
From her not a word or thought your way.

So this pain that's so hard to describe
Carries a price that is much too high.
But to let go of my love for her this day
Would be a price my heart could not pay.

So I'll bear this pain and suffer its toll
Knowing she owns my heart and grips my soul.
I am putty in her hands to mold and bend
With hopes that someday this torn heart she'll mend.
