Number One

by Bill Turner   Sep 7, 2006

You have been through so much in your short life
Faced a world of hurt, punishment and pain
I am sorry that you have seen so much strife
Fighting back the tears that should fall like rain

I am so very proud of you my son
You are brave, proud and all heart
You will always be my number one
You have been from the start

I promise that I will always be here for you
To listen, understand and help with what I can
No matter where life takes you or what you do
I would even help hide the bodies while you ran

I am proud of the man that you are
I know of no one better than you
In the past year you have come so far
I know that you are nowhere near through

Happy Birthday my wonderful friend
For you are much more than my son
I hope that time and love will help you to mend
Just know this: You are always my son
My wonderful number one

Note: This is written for my son, who turns 18 in less than a week. He has been through a lot. Not many teenagers have their mother try to stab them to death. This is my way of telling him how proud I am of the man he has become.

She wasn't a maniac the first five years of marriage and wasn't when he was born 18 years ago....however, two years ago she became mentally ill and refused medication...
