The Song I Used To Love

by AllHailTheHeartbreaker   Sep 10, 2006

You shook up my world
Like you were really rock n roll
Now I'm sitting here all afternoon
And all I really want is you.

From the coffee shop
To the parking lot
People pass right by
Going on with their normal lives.

So why can't I let go of this
I bet you still smell like Abercrombie & Fitch
And there I go daydreaming again
With my head stuck in this mess we're in.

Its out of control
And that excuse is getting old
So go ahead and cut the crap
There's no more time for that.

This little battle of the silences is wearing thin
My nerves are shot, I can't take it all in
If I sit down will the room quit spinning
Or will I keep on losing while you're still winning?

I'm stuck second-guessing myself in your mirror
Ignoring the roll of every glimmering tear
If only you could see me right now
I swear I'd forgive you, somehow.

I've got these big plans
And you're in all of them
So check your schedule once again
See if you can find time to fit me in.

I hung on your every 'I swear'
But that was when you were still there
It's hard to make a promise to someone
When you're so completely and totally gone.

I keep praying you'd speak enough to hurt me
With my hopes falling faster than gravity
But if this comes down to push and shove
I guess you'll just be the song I used to love.

Wow, this was beautiful, you write such entirely believeable poems, and they flow so well, yet they are sad. 5/5

I liked reading your poem and liked the many feelings you used throughout it. With the detail i can assume it is from someone who has really hurty you. I mainly lked the part about the schedule. :-p
