Disease of Myopia

by LadyPearl   Oct 3, 2006

Tis a water of mud fellow Americans drink
Hazy, unclear to what truth lies beneath
As children, they march the world with thundering drums
Across an eternal land of burning heath

Hidden from poverty and the existence of death
While their small minds ponder on glorious dreams
Kept behind lines where only light can reach
Judging every hanging truth by what it seems

Just like time, those young buds soon will grow
But not to more freedom but closer to enslavement
Swallowed deeper by clashing media; which truth
Each string of grunting strikes imprint; permanent

Living in a vast world; their world that is
Through a wine glass pouring crimson pride
Patriotism chained behind signs of arrogance
Is there an open mind without loyalty denied

Wow, Noni you are amazing.. You have such talent and you use it so well.. The flow in this is good except for a few lines and the descriptions leave me awe-struck.. You truly have a wonderful way with words, keep it up! 5/5

This is a wonderfully written poem with even a better message. It is unreal how delusional some societies can be. Throughout my life I've always hated politcs but it is only recently that I have discovered that anything and everything is linked to politics. To the qulity of air we breath to the general likes and dislikes of the general public. Thanks for posting this poem it has a lot of meaning.
