Snake Tongue Pillars

by LadyPearl   Oct 5, 2006

Snake tongues inscribed on words
flowing over thin paper glass rims
Drowning neighboring sly whispers
Star light, start bright, let it dim

Classic Bedtime stories rot to dust
Soft Blankets crumpled in little hands
Ticking clocks merge with crackling rust
As a long ago plague haunt the lands

Brother against brother as the Bible says
Trust falls, trust hates, trust none at all
What the old sins has been is now what it is
Small things evolve and holds us enthral

Rumors scratched upon every slamming door
Curtains are drawn in shame and dispute
Giant pillars with carved snakes stand before
What once was friendship now bathed as mute

I think this poem is about the end of the world.. and this is what is left... Lies and hatred scribbled on walls... brothers killing one another... This really makes you think a lot. Amazing... I'm adding you to my favorites ;) favorite stanza:
