Little Twelve Year Old Lisa

by Letty   Oct 17, 2006

Little Twelve year old Lisa, ran away from home
On a terribly cold and rainy night.

She was tired of being a complication
And the reason for her parents fights

She left them a note explaining
That she knew how hard things was.

She stated that she understood them
And that they would always have her love.

Lisa only made it ten blocks away
Before she started having strange feelings.

To her it felt as if every alley she passed
Concealed something dangerous and creepy.

But things were unusually quite
only sounds of rain and cars speeding pass.

There wasn't a sign of anyone in sight
But her heart was beating fast.

Ten more blocks down the road
The strange feeling came over her again.

She thought it was only the knowing fact
That she would never see her parents again

So deep into thought she was
She never paid attention while crossing the street.

She could only feel the wetness from the rain
And its coldness was making her weak.

Out of no-where came a blinding light
That made her pause exactly where she was.

But now she knew that the feeling was intuition
And that the light would be the death of her.

She didn't try to run from the light
nor would her mind let her cry out in fear

Because she figured that her parents would be happy
and her mom would shed no more tears.

The light came from a black pick- up truck
Full of high and drunken teens.

But before the driver made its impact
The passenger let out a horrible scream

All the while awaiting her faith
Little Lisa decided to pray

That God would keep her parents together
And that she would see them again one day.

After the truck hit little twelve year old Lisa,
It killed her instantly.

The pick-up truck then swerved off the road
And ran into a sycamore tree.

There were no survivors that terrible night
Their location was lighted by the moon.

Lisa parents discovered the terrible tragedy
From watching the early morning news.

They both denied it was Lisa
In their hearts they prayed they were right.

But the call came in from forensics
proving that it was Lisa that died that night.

From that day on they made a vow
To never fight again.

They hoped one day that God would forgive
They're countless and endless sins.

Because their promise didn't last long
They destroyed their home.

And little Lisa died in vain.

I think this one is the best of three. It really hit me and it’s so miserable. The emotions are well explained and the situation is well known, there are many families like Lisa’s. And that makes it extra sad.
Luckily, Lisa’s ‘task’ is fulfilled, so the poem is more then a lesson. 5/5
