Windmills

by Twisted Heart   Oct 22, 2006

Comes the icy winds of change
Clashing down on me like thunder
Blowing frosty breaths of pain
Upon my limbs they carry under.

Inside the secret of the storm
Against the essence of my soul
Torn down to my very core
As the gusts around me blow.

Tipping over bodied swells
Giving to my heart so shaken
An emptiness that tells the tale
Of warmth that winter's taken.

Upon my planks, the cold now rests
Inside my humbled heart it breathes
The lumber of my lungs distressed
As the winds now blows through me.

^ this is my fave stanza and the *'d lines are my fave.. so amazing. and sad and beautiful. you're an amazing poet, the only advice i can give is that you should try to step out of your confort zone- which seems to be 4 line stanzas with abab or abcb r/s.. i used to do exactly the same things, and i started otehr kinds like rhyming freeverse, and now i write more that way, its awesome to explore the different styles and such, so give it a try!
