The Other Side

by Genevieve   Oct 27, 2006

I walk the world to day,
Discovering life and what it means to me.
Today I look around to see what I will never forget,
To see the pain inside and never know just how it feels.
So today I sit by and watch two worlds collide,
Today I just stare at the kids,
that are never really there.
I sit here wondering what it must have been like,
for them.
To have to sit and just take it,
I'll never know just what it's like.
or how it is that they can stand it.
I look at people now,
And try to understand how it feels,
But I never will.
I can see the bruises spread across these children's faces,
but instead of fading,
I simply can't resist.
So today,
I sit by,
and watch as two worlds collide.
I just sit and stare at people,
who are never really there.
I sit here wondering what it must have been like,
for them.
To have to sit and just take it.
I'll never understand just what it's like,
or how it is that they can stand it.
I always thought the other side,
would be so much better than this.
I figured it'd give me a reason to be the way I am.
I just assumed it be so much better getting beaten everyday.
I guess my ignorance can no longer justify my pain.
How can you sit there,
and watch your child die?
Slowly but surely,
you're losing him inside.
How can you just watch your child cry?
You're watching as he falls into darkness and then he,
and then he...
I walked the world today,
discovering life,
and watched as two worlds collide,
It always looked so good on the other side.
