A Gift?

by Genevieve   Apr 3, 2007

Today,
Yesterday,
Tomorrow,
does it matter?
We live,
we love,
we hate,
we die,
and we inevitably move on.
24 hours,
live life as though 24 hours is all you have.
Do not waste time regretting past mistakes,
move forward in life,
don't look back,
for the past holds only pain and loss.
Each day is a curse and a blessing,
each love to be remembered and forgotten.
Reminisce,
remember,
but do not regret,
for regret is the ball and chain that drowns us in the sea of life.
Remember your life for what it is,
for what it has made you,
regret not what you could have been.
You are who you are,
admire it,
or feel anguish in it,
but be who you are now,
and accept life's ups and downs.
And remember that it is the downs in life,
the valleys if you will,
that makes the climbs to the top worth so much more.
Life is a gift and a curse,
to be remembered and forgotten,
so remember that every 24 hours is worth living,
and every moment is worth a memory.

This is not so much a poem as just an inspirational piece. I recently found out that my friend committed suicide and I just want to implore to everyone that no matter what happens in life, death is never the answer. Find your niche and express your anger or frustration or pain. I've seen death too many times in my line of work, so please, remember this. Thank you.
