A Distant Dawn

by Jemma   Oct 28, 2006

The air is aflame
Vengeance is rising
The knife keeps on turning
A twist of such sweet betrayal
We’re polluted

The car gathers speed
And the men are soaring
Flying and falling
Straight across the sky

Diving into the sea
Clambering, climbing
The foamy shores
Not to be forgotten
Once they can fly no more

I’ll be fine once we hit morning
When the dust has settled
And the ashes have cooled
And then I shall walk barefoot
Upon the crimson beach
And the gulls shall sing as they mourn
And I shall stride towards the distant dawn
I remember. I will always remember
