It took my breath

You called to wake me up
Couldn't wait another day
You had something on your mind
You felt you had to say

At first i was worried
That something was wrong
But the sound of your voice
Proved me wrong

I met you at the diner
And climbed into your car
Quickly you drove away
Racing my heart

"Babe, what's this all about,
Its a little after two!"
You just smiled and looked at me
Your eyes said "i love you"

On a back road you turned
And down it we sped
Worries, questions, thought of mine
Rushed through my head

At first i didn't realize
Exactly where we were
It took me a minute to adjust
It was all a blur

But something in my heart
Said it was all alright
That something spectacular
Would happen tonight

You parked the car
And turned to me
"this relationship has been perfect,
this i know you see

Over the years i've grown to respect you
And know just who you are
I've come to love not just your appearance
But what's within your heart

I want a family
To support on my own
I want to be an old man
And have kids fully grown

I want to succeed in life
And do it with a smile

And make it worth while

But through all those things

One to greet me with a hug
And a kiss after work
One to scold me
When i'm being a jerk

One to share all the things
That life will through
One who all my thoughts
Will always know

So tonight i woke you up
At half past two
Just so i could tell these things
To the one i love so true

You have taken away
The pain from my life

Will you be my wife?"

I knew it was coming
But it still took my breath
Was i what he needed?
This scared me to death

But i took his hand
Ready to accept
And with a heart full of love
I gladly said "Yes"
