Fading Memories

by Jemma   Nov 14, 2006

The imagined choir sings
Its groaning
Melancholy, haunting melody
Painful to remember
Burdening my mind as I enter
The piano stands forgotten
The sole thing in the room
Once honoured and admired
It is smothered
For no one plays it anymore
And the dusty keys are mourning
That there were once hope
That there was life
To be breathed
Then not all would lay to waste
More than dust to grace the room
Just fading memories
Locked in the mirrored gaze
Of my tired eyes
And beneath the cracks
There are fond memories
Of those times of long ago
When the light played about the room
And the laughter of us rang
Echoing, echoing but now it's gone
