Are Words Enough?

You know the things that I've dealt
You know what I've been through
You know how much pain I felt
You know how I was torn in two

Every time there's sorrow in my heart
You stay with me and do your part
No matter how heavy it all is
Even if it's the past that I miss

Endless tears were already shed
Whether on the phone or in my bed
Yet everything seems worthwhile
When you comfort and make me smile

I still love the one whom I've hurt
No one can deny the efforts I exert
Tried to change the things I did
But turning back time, God had forbid

Decided to hide my feelings for now
Knowing that we can't control time
I pray that in this life, fate will allow
For me to heal my wounds of crime

Thank you, my friend, for being there
I wouldn't survive with out your care
Everything around me, I learned to savor
So please allow me to return the favor

I could beat him until he's black and blue
But won't because you wouldn't want me to

Wishing that all your hurt would end

But I don't want to just sit there
For me to do nothing, that's not fair

You are a friend that I don't want to lose
To the harshness of the world and all its abuse
Please let me protect you, if you do so
Happiness is the only word you'll ever know

I can't say I love you, not yet
Because when I do, it means forever
For now I like you and I won't forget
How you saved me from life's despair

No matter how long this may be
All the words are still not enough
To show, once again I'm happy
Even if life has been so tough
