A moment Too Late

by Madison   Dec 4, 2006

Her last breath was snatched away
From her long before he had a chance
To save her. Arriving at the stroke of
Midnight, he threw himself through
The open door, praying he wasn't too late.
Darkness surrounded him, he couldn't see
A thing. His frantic gait brought him
Straight into her pool of blood. He lost his
Footing and came crashing down; and there
On the floor he found her body stiff, cold
And lifeless. His fingers found her poison,
Closing around the vial. Realization of
His nightmare sank in and stole away
His sanity. He gently reclined in her
Crimson liquid, pulling her near to him.
Her head on his chest, his face in her hair,
And arms clutching her about her waist,
Hand sliding across his blood soaked leg
Finding his savior. With a dying surge
Of sanity he lifted the gleaming hunk of metal
And silently joined his beloved on the
Other side.
