Once Every Year

by Gem   Dec 4, 2006

It comes but once every year
Spreading joy and winter cheer
Lighting up the cold dark nights
With festive fun and sparkling lights

Everyone rushing around the town
Children writing wish lists down
A time for giving and showing you care
A sense of magic is in the air

Christmas songs played every day
Santa's grotto is a pretty display
Snow starts falling from the sky
As people tuck into mince pies

Decorations on the tree
Delicious stuffing with turkey
Stockings hung at the fireplace
Expectant joy on each child's face

Presents wrapped in glossy bows
Sprigs of Holly and Mistletoe
Lovers sharing a sneaky kiss
While kids stay in a state of bliss

This special time lasts a few days
Almost like a jubilant phase
Christmas time is nearly here
And then it's gone until next year ©

(I know i'm my own worst critic but jebus!)

This is great...Really shows what Christmas time is like. No more judging your work unless its good criticism on yourself. You're a lovely writer and you deserve no more than that. You are the best writer I've seen on here!
